What?
What is RandomShit.com?
A website. Specifically, one designed to bring the wonderful little nuggets of the internet,
or for that matter, just about anything in the tubes, right to your browser. One small catch though, you have no control over what your browser
gets. Read on for more details about it, but just know that if you ever sit wondering if there is anything on the internet you
haven't seen already, Randomshit.com is more than happy to find it for you!
What URLs will get approved?
The ideal URLs for RandomShit.com to get, would be specific ones. While it's awesome to find a new
".com" you didn't know about, it's more more effective to stumble onto a specific document within a website. Standard web page
types will be approved, as well as a select few other document types such as SWF and PDF files. The goal is to have as wide of a
variety of content available behind the big red button as possible, without limits to topic, detail, language, or file type, as
possible. Just about any URL will be approved unless it falls into one of the categories below.
What sites will not get approved?
- Pornographic websites
- Racist, Sexist, or generally hate-filled websites
- Media file URLs (.mp3, .wmv, .mpeg, etc..)
- Document files known for malicious code vulnerabilities (.doc, .xls, .exe, etc..)
- Personal social site pages (Your own MySpace, Facebook, etc..)
- Any URL deemed inappropriate or unsafe, at the discretion of RandomShit.com
What if I get a broken or inappropriate URL?
You can email us with
the URL you were sent to and we'll get to the bottom of it as best we can! At some point in the future we'll enable a better
system for this, but I'm not sure what that will be or how far off. Besides, I hardly get enough email, so... use that for now.
Why?
Why would this exist?
One day I found myself sitting at my desk at work on a particularly slow day. I wondered, what could
I possibly find on the internet that I had not already seen, to maybe peak my interest and give my day purpose. Thats what the
Internet was made for, right? Well, unfortunately I hit a point where anything I could think of that might interest me, I had
already searched for, read, and absorbed. With the limitation of all search engines being, the requirement of a search term of
my choosing, I was stuck. Thoughts of magically having a large red button in my browser, that would just fetch me some item of
potential value from the grasp of the world wide web, began to swirl around in my head. What if, I could just hit this
magic button and some, totally random item would be displayed for my enjoyment? What if, everyone had this button? What if...
hey, look at that, randomshit.com is available...
Why should I use it?
Because sometimes, you just hit a point where there's nothing left on the internet. You've finished it.
Beat the final boss and flipped the score counter. Only, you think you have, but there's still 99.9% left, that you never knew
about. Don't let the Internet win! Hit the big red button, and you could possibly be rewarded with that one elusive URL, or that
one glimpse into a whole new topic, or ... something someone else thought was funny but is really stupid. It's a crap shoot. But
you must ... keep ... going ...
Where?
Where does it send me?
I have no idea. If I did, it wouldn't be random. I would own completelypredictableshit.com instead.
Alot of people (even you?) add URLs to the database here, and overtime as more sites from more people, with more interests get
added, the total 'randomness' value goes up. So, in short, I have no idea.
Who?
Who adds URLs to it?
Anyone. Even you, if you want. Right on the front page is a form where you can submit a site.
All sites submitted do go through a small moderation process, to ensure we don't let any of the dark alleys of the Internet in, but
there is NO restriction on who can submit a URL to the database. Infact, the entire purpose is to have as many, different people,
from different parts of the world, walks of life, and veins of interest as possible contributing. If you'd like to contribute, sign
up for a user profile at the top right of this site, and go to the 'tools' page. There you can submit URLs, RSS feeds, and get a
web browser bookmarklet to make submitting things a 1-click affair!
Who decides what is accepted?
A small group of the Internet gods. Want to be one us?

volcano and we'll talk.
When?
When can I use it?
You could be using it right now, but instead you're here wondering the same things someone else
already has. You're so original. Just go back to the main page and click the red button thingie,
and the internet will gift you one of it's deeply held secrets in a new browser window or tab!
When will someone see the URL I submitted?
Right now? Probably fairly quickly, within an hour or so max. All of the URLs submitted must be checked
by our small team of Internet gods before being approved and put into circulation. We can only approve so many, so fast. We're
only gods after all. Besides, it's totally random so, it could be a week or 30 seconds before someone sees it, you'll never know.
So, we'll go with 30 seconds. 30 seconds after you submit it. Yeah.

Why would I want to talk to you?!
So, let's say you click the big red button and it loads up a broken, or otherwise kaput URL. That would be
a prime example of the right time to send us an email! Also, if you're
really really bored go ahead and shoot us one too, or, hit the big red button. Thats what we made it for afterall.
